Wright dedicates Australian victory to her ailing mother-in-law

Australian defender Bailey Wright paid a moving tribute to his wife and ailing mother-in-law after his side’s 1-0 win (Leckie’s goal, 60e) against on Denmark, after receiving painful news as his teammates celebrated the World Cup. Wright, who plays for Sunderland in England’s second tier, told Australian reporters, in remarks reported by Reuters: “ I just got a message from my wife. I just want to dedicate this to my wife, bless her, and her mom. I’ll be honest, I’m not sure she’s still with us. It was, for them, a very difficult time at home, but in the end it allowed me to be here and live one of my dreams, so I dedicate this to Tammy. I hope she is still with us. »
