World Tennis League: no luck for Félix Auger-Aliassime

Quebecer Félix Auger-Aliassime was playing a second match in the mixed World Tennis League preparatory event on Thursday in the United Arab Emirates and this time he could not savor the victory.

In a doubles duel, he lost alongside his Indian partner Sania Mirza, 24th WTA singles player, in three sets of 5-7, 6-3 and 10-7 against the pair of the German Alexander Zverev and Kazakh Elana Rybakina. Initially, Quebecer Eugenie Bouchard was to form a duo with “FAA” for the formation of Kites, but Mirza took her place.

Auger-Aliassime’s team also includes the world’s No. 1 women’s racquet, Poland’s Iga Swiatek, and Denmark’s Holger Rune. For their part, Zverev and Rybakina are part of the Hawks whose other members are Dominic Thiem and Anett Kontaveit.

The competition that will end on Saturday includes two other formations, the Eagles and the Falcons. In the Eagles camp, the Canadian Bianca Andreescu joins forces with those of Nick Kyrgios, Caroline Garcia and Rohan Bopanna. Besides, Novak Djokovic plays for the Falcons.

The Kites had outscored the Eagles 35-27, with ‘FAA’ triumphing 7-5, 6-3 against Kyrgios. Friday, he has an appointment with the “Djoker”.
