Why are MotoGP champions not as convincing as the days of Rossi and Marquez?

BOLASPORT.COM – MotoGP is still looking for someone serial winner the new one. In the last three seasons, there has always been a minor note behind the success of the champion.

The latest is Francesco Bagnaia with his success in becoming a MotoGP champion despite failing to finish five times.

Bagnaia was saved by a strong second half of the season and the sluggishness of his main competitor, Fabio Quartararo, at the same time.

As previously reported, Bagnaia became the first MotoGP racer to win the title even though he failed to finish five times.

The previous record was four failed finishes experienced by Marc Marquez in the 2018 MotoGP.

This number is much more than the average DNF (did not finish/didn’t finish) belongs to the champions of the previous era.

As reported Crash.netin the first 10 years of MotoGP (2002-2011), the average DNF result of racers who won was only 0.1.

While in the last decade (2013-2022), the figure has risen to 2.2.

Francesco Bagnaia, Marc Marquez and Joan Mir became MotoGP champions with DNF statistics above this average.
