An eventful sports year with Olympic Winter Games, World and European Championships, German Championships and exciting league competitions is coming to an end. The time has come for Halle’s sports community to choose their “Female Athlete of the Year”, their “Athlete of the Year” and their “Team of the Year” from the large number of top athletes training in Halle (Saale).

For the criteria, individual athletes had to demonstrate international sporting success. Team and team applications were considered if they could show international and/or high-ranking national success.
From the large number of qualifiers, an expert committee created the final voting lists, which allow 10 nominees per category. So that this selection could be made to the best of our knowledge and belief, representatives of the Olympic training center in Saxony-Anhalt, members of the executive committee of the Stadtsportbundes Halle eV, those responsible from competitive sports clubs and people with extensive editorial experience had to contribute their expertise.
Two pillars carry the result of this year’s election.
Pillar 1: The list of nominees shows a ranking in each category.
It reflects the number of places chosen by the panel of experts.
Pillar 2: All those interested in sports now have the opportunity to choose their athletes and their team of the year online here. The votes cast in turn result in place numbers. The people with the most votes received in their category are number 1. This is followed by the athletes with the second highest approval with number 2 and so on. Whoever receives the fewest votes gets the 10th place in their category. You emerge as the winner from a category if the sum of the two place numbers (place number pillar 1 + place number pillar 2) is lower than the sum of the place numbers all other nominees in the same category. If the addition of the place numbers gives the same results, the decision will be made in favor of the candidates who did better in column 2 = PUBLIKUMSJOKER.
Until January 6, 2023, the Hallenset can support the opinion of the experts or teach them otherwise. Halle’s athletes of the year 2022 will be announced and awarded at the “Sports New Year’s Reception” on January 14, 2023.
