Who is Stanis Idumbo, the Belgian prodigy of Ajax Amsterdam? – All football

The young Belgian Stanis Idumbo shines with the youngsters of Ajax Amsterdam, where he is quite simply the most decisive player.

As the page of the “golden generation” turns, we sometimes wonder what Belgian talents will be able to shine in the years to come. And while some have already proven themselves at the highest level, such as Amadou Onana or Loïs Openda, many great black-yellow-red talents are waiting for their time in youth teams and, in doing so, stand out. This is the case of Stanis Idumbo in Ritual (17 years old), creative medium who flies over the age teams of Ajax Amsterdam.

The numbers don’t lie: Idumbo is indeed the most decisive player of all Ajax Amsterdam’s youth teams. Not an easy task, because we know that the youth school of the Amsterdam club is a world reference. And it’s not new: Stanis Idumbo has been performing since signing for Ajax in 2021.

Trained in Bruges and Ghent

Stanis Idumbo began his schooling with the young people of Club Brugge, before going “to the enemy” in 2017 towards La Gantoise. There, he already made a strong impression at times, and in particular… facing his old colors against which he scored a goal that caused a stir in 2019.

Like many young Belgian talents, Stanis will be courted abroad, and will therefore end up leaving our country to try his luck elsewhere. Direction Ajax Amsterdam in July 2021. From his debut, Idumbo shines, with a season with 8 goals and 6 assists in U17 and U18. This season, he is still raising the level: 20 games, 10 goals and 12 assists while we are only in December. Stanis Idumbo has, among other things, shown himself to his advantage on the European scene, in the Youth League (3 goals, 2 assists in 6 games). Needless to say, Ajax are keeping a close eye on their academy’s most decisive player, who is under contract until 2024.

And in selection?

Stanis Idumbo wears the colors of the Belgian age teams, from the U15s to the U18s today. However, he could also become international…French: Idumbo, whose brother plays in National 1 with the OHL U23s and is also a Belgian international U17, was born in Melun, in Ile-de-France. However, he did not wear the colors of France among young people.

With such performances, a call to discover Ajax Amsterdam’s A team could follow in 2023; it is hoped that then, the Belgian Union will convince Idumbo to remain in its bosom. Because such talent could be part of the much-needed changing of the guard by the 2026 World Cup…
