In an interview with the Sky TV channel, ex-DFB sports director Dutt spoke about the filling jug again after a long time, praising him for his strong performances in the national jersey – but he also identified a general problem that the German Football Association have.

“I have him in Bremen experienced, he has developed incredibly well,” says Robin Dutt above Niclas filling jug. And further: “But he is already 29 years old, at the next one WM 33. If that is our solution now, then that says everything about the formation of the classical structures in Deutschland.” After this Preliminary round from the German national team during the World Cup in Qatar the criticism of the development of German football is currently greater than it has been for a long time. Especially since the DFB team four years ago in Russia also had to go home after three games.

Werder Bremen ex-coach Robin Dutt criticizes DFB: “Wound festers and bleeds on”

“Of the DFB as a whole apparatus has to move,” demands Robin Dutt, who sees the problem neither in national coach Hansi Flick nor in managing director Oliver Bierhoff, but in “people who are not discussed in public”. Even the criticism of the then national coach Jogi Löw was the wrong way after the 2018 World Cup. “I really hope we don’t do that because the wound underneath is festering and bleeding. The coach is definitely not the problem,” emphasizes the former coach of the SV Werder Bremen. In addition, Bierhoff and sporting director Joti Chatzialexiou “looked ahead to the future many years ago, outside of Germany too”.

Robin Dutt itself was from August 2012 to June 2013 been responsible as DFB sports director. Then followed the change to Werder Bremen. The early departure from DFB Some of those responsible in the association took offense at the 57-year-old. “Nothing was going on then. I decided at this point that I wasn’t ready to hide behind my desk, especially when nothing is moving. I put up with the criticism of withdrawing so quickly,” says Dutt, who now sees the time to express his opinion publicly: “I haven’t said anything for ten years, but I have the opportunity to say something now To add fuel to the fire, I might be able to help it go faster this time.” (dco)
