WATCH: Wasp brings David Cameron luck in great comeback at World Cup darts | Darts

The 53-year-old Cameron was in bad shape against the Englishman Ritchie Edhouse. Cameron had his back to the wall at 2 sets to 0 and 2-0 in legs down in the best-of-3 match. Edhouse needed 1 more leg, but Cameron managed to win 8 legs in a row. He gave Edhouse 1 more leg and finished the match 2-3.

Striking: Did Cameron get a nudge from a wasp? A sturdy specimen sat on his shoulder throughout the second part of the game, until the announcer had had enough and knocked the insect to the ground.

The wasp was briefly knocked out, but not dead. Because a moment later the wasp was on Cameron’s shoulder again. Unbeknownst to the darts player himself, the wasp still provided luck, because with the wasp on his shirt, he fared a lot better.

When the animal briefly disappeared from his shoulder, things went less, but once back Cameron completely completed his comeback. “I didn’t really know what was happening at first, but it was actually kind of funny,” Cameron was asked afterwards about the outside help.

Earlier in the evening, Simon Whitlock also received an unwanted visit from the World Cup wasp in the deciding set of his second round against Portuguese Jose de Sousa. De Sousa won 2-3.

The World Cup in Ally Pally is often visited by wasps. In 2017 Mensur Suljovic had to deal with the beast, in 2018 Gary Anderson was the victim.
