A visibly relaxed Volodymyr Zelensky recently gave an exclusive interview to the broadcaster LCI.
The President of Ukraine is convinced that Vladimir Putin is obsessed with him.
After almost ten months of war, he would like to confront the Russian president in single combat, he says.
Volodymyr Zelenskiy has embodied the Ukrainian population’s will to resist since the beginning of the war. He showed himself in a video on the streets of Kyiv, just hours after the capital was one of many Aiming Russian missiles became. In an interview with the French television station LCI, he has now made a kind of declaration of war.
“A real man doesn’t need middlemen”
Zelensky is convinced that Vladimir Putin is obsessed with him – and accuses him of hiding behind soldiers and other Kremlin politicians. “If a real man wants to explain something to someone, for example want to smack his face, he does it alone, without resorting to the services of middlemen,” says Zelenski.
When asked by the journalist whether he would be ready for a one-on-one fight with Vladimir Putin, Zelensky replied with a laugh: “I’m always ready for that, yes. I’ll be available tomorrow.” However, the Ukrainian president says that if he were to fist-fight Zelensky, it would probably be Putin’s “last summit”.
How fit is judo-Putin?
Putin is experienced in martial arts and has a black belt in judo. However, the question would be how rusty the 70-year-old’s fighting skills are. Recently there have always been doubts about his health.
A video from April shows one bloated Vladimir Putin, who appears to be clinging to the edge of the table during a conversation with Defense Minister Shoigu. 44-year-old Volodimir Zelenskiy has no martial arts background, but the almost 30-year age difference should stand him in good stead.
