Vermeer reports to training complex 1908

Kenneth Vermeer has reported to the Feyenoord training complex, as can be seen on the account FeyenoordTraining.nl on Twitter. Just like Nick Marsman, the 36-year-old goalkeeper keeps his condition up with the team from Rotterdam. Vermeer is under contract with FC Cincinnati in America, but that contract expires in more than two weeks.

The former Feyenoorder could theoretically be registered on January 1, although the chance that the team from Rotterdam will actually do so seems small. After all, Feyenoord already has three keepers under contract with Justin Bijlow, Ofir Marciano and Timon Wellenreuther.

Vermeer came over from Ajax in the summer of 2014 for more than one million euros. The five-time international of Orange played more than 130 games for Feyenoord before leaving for LAFC in America in January 2020.

After a little over a year in Los Angeles, he signed with the Cincinnati of then trainer Jaap Stam. Vermeer disappeared from that team this season, partly due to a chest injury, and only participated in one game. That was on May 12 in the cup tournament against New England Revolution.

Feyenoord must register Vermeer on a free transfer on January 1
