The judoka from Alzirá Alberto Varela won a bronze medal in the Absolute Spanish Judo Championship held at the Gallur Municipal Sports Center in Madrid, which brought together 253 judokas, 131 boys and 122 girls, from 18 autonomous communities. Alberto Varela participated in the -73Kg category, obtaining a creditable third place. The Valencian Community was in second position in the competition medal table.
The judoka from Alziría had just competed in November in the European Under-23 Championship held in Hungary, in which he finished ninth.
Varela would like to thank the FER Project, of totally private capital promoted by Juan Roig through the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, a non-profit organization whose objective is to promote effort through sport, made up of the youngest athletes who stand out in national competitions for their age categories.
