The Utrecht student association Veritas apologizes on Monday for an inappropriate message from a year club of the association. It calls for resistance against the “left-wing transition”, as a result of which “woman-friendly remarks” will predominate at Veritas.
Veritas says it wants to act appropriately against the year club, but does not yet say how. The board of the association has called the writers to account and wants to speak to them first.
The message states, among other things, that members of the year club are “not bitches after all”, but “testosterone bombs”. They also describe themselves as “proud monkeys on the rock of Utrecht” and call first-years “gays” and “stomabeffers”. Finally, the authors call for the telephone numbers of “the three horniest whores” of their academic year to be brought to the next meeting.
Veritas president Sophie Pizzuto emphasizes that her association distances itself from the statements. “It is a small club within Veritas,” says Pizzuto. “We are shocked by this message and would like to emphasize that there is no place for such texts in this association. This is also apparent from the many reactions we have received from our members, who are just as shocked as we are.”
