[San Diego Joint]The American Baseball Hall of Fame announced on the 4th that players who were active mainly after 1980 will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and Fred McGriff, who has hit 493 homers in total, was selected. Barry Bonds, who hit a major league record with 762 home runs and Roger Clemens, who has won 354 career games, both were rumored to have used drugs during their playing days.

It required 12 votes from a 16-member selection committee to be elected, but Bonds and Clemens received fewer than four votes. Both men failed to meet the selection criteria in a vote by the Baseball Writers Association of America, which was in its 10th year of eligibility, and were eliminated in January.
