U-17 badminton team won three gold medals in South America – News – Peruvian Institute of Sport

The Peruvian U-17 badminton team won three gold and three silver medals in the Lima 2022 Adult and Youth South American Championship, which takes place at the Videna Sports Center 2 until Saturday, December 17.

In men’s singles, José Rendon beat Brazilian Joaquim Ribeiro 2-1 with partial scores of 21-11, 16-21 and 21-18.

While in the ladies’ singles, Talli Chomchey defeated Rafaela Silva, also a Peruvian, who won the silver medal, 21-18 and 21-17.

In men’s doubles, Ian Moromisato and Marcelo Novoa managed to turn the score around the Brazilian duo made up of Bruno Gato Alonso and Joaquim Ribeiro, to end up winning 18-21, 21-11 and 21-17.

Two other silver medals were also obtained. In mixed doubles thanks to the pairing Marcelo Novoa-Shary Andrade, who lost in the final against Kaua Laurentino-María Santos from Brazil 21-18, 21-23, 21-13.

As well as in double ladies, with Estefania Canchanya and Joely Chuquimaqui, who lost to María Mazza and María Santos with a score of 21-11, 17-21 and 24-22.
