American top baseball player Trevor Bauer is not suspended for two years by Major League Baseball (MLB). The Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher successfully appealed the 324-game ban.
Bauer was suspended in April this year after allegations of sexual assault and domestic violence against him. The 31-year-old baseball player has never been charged with criminal charges.
The MLB nevertheless found that a long suspension was justified because Bauer had violated the league’s rules on domestic and sexual assault. The baseball player successfully appealed.
After the appeal case, 194 duels of suspension remain. It concerns the 144 games he missed last season and the first 50 games he could play in 2023. The regular season in the North American baseball league consists of 162 games.
Bauer signed a three-year contract with the Dodgers worth $ 102 million in February 2021 (converted about 96 million euros). The pitcher lost 37.5 million dollars (35.4 million euros) due to his suspension. That could have been a lot more if his appeal had not been successful.
It is unclear whether Dodgers will allow Bauer to play again
Bauer will start his last year of contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023. He says on social media that he is looking forward to getting back into action for the seven-time MLB champion. It is unclear whether the Dodgers will give the pitcher that chance. The club, which did not want to say anything on Thursday, has fourteen days to make a decision.
Bauer will receive his salary of $ 22.5 million (21.2 million euros) anyway, even if the Dodgers say goodbye to him.
