Three Salvadoran basketball players will travel to Spain with scholarships

Tara Rivas and the twins Daniela and Gabriela Escobar will travel to Spain to study and train at the Gil Comes Vinaros Basketball Club, in the Valencian Community, where they will initially remain until June next year.

“They were in the process U18, U14 for Nicaragua, and now they are going to the Gil Comes Vinaros Basketball Club, it is a club from the Valencian Community, they are going to play in the junior cadet category, they are going to study there, they are going to continue in selection processes ”, explained Ray Santana, a Spanish coach who is in charge of the national basketball teams.

The club from Vinaro has nine teams that participate in the different official competitions of the Valencian Community Basketball Federation, in prebenjamín, benjamín, juvenile level 2, female infant level 3, male infant level 4, female cadet level 3, cadet male level 4, junior male in the preferred category and senior male in the regional category.

“The truth is that it is a great opportunity to be able to send three players to Spain. Opening the door to Spain for Salvadoran players is going to be good for them, because they are going to enter at a good level, they are going to play in some very good competitions and that will help us for the future, since they are prospects for the senior team,” Santana explained. .

Both Daniela and Gabriela will travel on December 3, while Tara will do so until December 29. The three players are part of the Salvadoran team that participated in the last Women’s Major League Basketball tournament and currently compete in the under-21 category.

“We have had the support of the parents, of the federation and I think it will be a good experience,” said the coach, who is currently in Mexico where he is giving a seminar.
