The young Raúl Hernández from Molin makes history by proclaiming himself double Champion of Spain of Badminton in the sub 13 category

The young man from Molina Raul Hernandez has been proclaimed double Spanish Badminton Champion in the Spanish Badminton Championship Champion Wantedunder 13 categoryheld last weekend (December 16, 17 and 18) in Las Torres de Cotillas. For the first time in history, a player from the Region of Murcia managed to climb to the top of the podium in a Spanish Championship in lower categories, and he did it twice.

Las Torres de Cotillas has hosted the last Spanish Championship of the 2022 season, the one that defined the best national under 13 players. The player from Molina de Segura, from Club Badminton Infante, had options to get on the podium, as he already did in Santander 2020 (under 11 male individual) and in Ibiza 2021 (under 13 mixed doubles). But this time, after convincingly making his way to the singles semifinals, he defeated the number 1 seed, and favorite of the competition, in the closest match of the tournament. Already in the final, he showed his superiority against the Andalusian player Guillermo Muñoz (La Encina), winning 21-14 and 21-8.

But if this historical fact were not enough, Hernández, together with his mixed doubles partner, Alicia Brao (Badminton Las Torres), got another gold after beating the Catalan couple Magno Salas and Mariona Ying Muñoz, in a tight match three sets (22-20, 18-21, 21-16).
