The Scouts of Ceuta begin their winter camping, the first time with multi-adventures

The Day of the Immaculate Conception was very important for the Scouts of Ceuta. The port of the autonomous city was filled with adventurers and their families, a total of 78 will celebrate their traditional winter camping from December 8 to 11 at the ‘La Rejertilla’ camp located in El Burgo, Málaga. But in this group there is no average age, as the president and coordinator of the Scouts of Ceuta, Jesús Martín Cañibano, already advanced, “the minimum age is six years, but from now on there are even those in their 50s.”

Although the objective of this activity is for the sections to be in contact with nature, carrying out team activities where camaraderie and, above all, a family atmosphere prevail; For Martín it is important that the illusion in scouting be resumed.

These scouts resumed in 2007, “we were a couple who were little and we had the illusion of resuming scouting, it brings back many memories and we have learned a lot”, knowledge that will also reach this group of more than 70 people who travel to ‘La Rejertilla ‘. Excited, nervous to leave home, especially the little ones, but very happy, because they are going to learn issues that will develop their day to day, “we learned many daily decisions thanks to the scouts”, confessed Martín.

The beginnings were never easy, and this is how the president of this ‘herd’ -as they are called- detailed, “at the beginning it is difficult to gain credibility as an association, but we are already 100 people on the census, it is a very great illusion”. And he emphasizes that they are interested in ensuring that scouting is not lost again, “Ceuta has been a pioneer, we have had up to 4 different scout groups. Now we are working and seeing that it is consolidated”.

Likewise, the traditional acts for the delivery of promises will be carried out as a sign of commitment and learning obtained in the scout group, as well as the evening where each section will organize its own workshops and activities to entertain and enjoy with their companions.

An adventure, illusion and nervousness

The parking lot at the port of Ceuta was full. The early risers came out with their backpacks on their backs -some were bigger than the scouts themselves-, a backpack with “4 changes of clothes and the spare ones, but it took us a lot to close it, it carries the essentials,” one confessed to EL PUEBLO. of the mothers The father of these girls recognized that if he had done it, she would “carry less things,” she laughed. But they were loaded with nervousness and desire, on a 4-day trip in which what they most expected was to “ride a horse.”

Joaquín, Fran, Kairi and Ubay are part of the Beaver Colony, between 6 and 8 years old. It is the age of the maximum illusion to discover everything. Talking to EL PUEBLO while they waited for the others, they said that it is not the first time they have gone camping, “for me it is the third,” said Ubay, although he did not remember the places, “in the field, test and now.” In addition, Kairi said that “we do many things”, but always with his cry “Pack we will do our best”, Joaquín, Fran, Kairi and Ubay shouted to demonstrate their energy.

About whether they are going to miss their parents, some do and others don’t, “we really want to get on a boat and sleep in a bed inside the sack”, excited and grateful for the opportunity, they prepared to form.

The colonies, the Cub Pack, the Scouts, Escultas, Rovers/Compañeros and Monitores/Scouters are the educational sections of Scouts de Ceuta. And as is the tradition, during this Thursday in the port they shouted “herd, herd, herd” and formed as always, “Scouts always ready”, they greeted the Coral Colony, Rainbow Herd, Penguin Patrol, Bear, Wolf, Tiger and the Clan Rover Phoenix. Jesús Martín gathered them together and with their rucksacks full of excitement they headed for the ship to head towards the ‘La Rejertilla’ complex located in El Burgo, Málaga.

The mother of a little scout who was crying knew that it was only the beginning, “afterwards she has an incredible time”, she said in front of the port stairs. In addition, one of her mothers confessed that she is going to miss her daughter a lot and is going to Malaga, “I’m going to a hotel to keep her close.”
