the retractable roof of the Suzanne-Lenglen court is revealed

The first significant stage of this major work has just been completed with the positioning (shifting) of the metal frame. The new silhouette of the Suzanne-Lenglen court is beginning to take shape. The two side elements of the metal frame now rest on their pillars. This complex phase, which takes up many technical challenges, consisted in moving over a length of 25 meters, these side elements measuring 100 meters long and 18 meters wide, and weighing approximately 400 tonnes.

Launched in July 2021, this leading project will continue until March 2023, in particular with the installation of the cover storage box and the various mechanisms. The last phase of this project, which will begin after the 2023 edition of the Roland-Garros tournament, will see the installation of the canvas constituting the mobile cover. This project, carried out under the direction of the French architect and urban planner Dominique Perrault, will integrate harmoniously into the environment of the stadium and will be part of an environmental and societal approach.
