The nightmare of three football giants at the World Cup in Qatar

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar turned out to be a serious test without a happy outcome for the three national football teams that have won prized places in major tournaments in the past decades. The players of Belgium and Germany finished the tournament after only three games, while Spain played only one game more. Each of the teams had their own problems, and as usual, after losses, they become visible to all.

In the ranking of the International Association of Football Federations (FIFA), the Belgian national team ranks second, Spain is in seventh position and Germany is in 11th place. Many believed that this World Cup was the last chance for the talented generation of Belgians to win the prestigious trophy, which would be a step forward after their third place finish in 2018. On the other hand, the national teams of Germany and Spain should stop their failures and return to the fight for the highest places. The Spaniards started the tournament with hope, but the shadow of discord fell over the Belgians from the very beginning.

Denmark, ranked 10th in the FIFA ranking, also had a very unsuccessful tournament, finishing last in the group with one point. This tournament was quite difficult for European national teams, as there was little time to prepare.

The toxic atmosphere in the team was to blame for the failures of the Belgian national team, there are long-term fundamental problems in German football, but the Spanish national team was not justified by the intransigence of the head coach Luis Enrique, sticking to the style of play that did not allow to create goalscoring moments.
