The fisherman took 33rd place in the European Cup in slalom

Latvian alpine skier Miks Zvejnieks finished 33rd in the European Cup (EC) slalom competition in Italy on Friday.

The fisherman covered the distance in 59.10 seconds in the first race, 3.69 seconds behind the leader Frenchman Steven Amier, which gave him the 45th position, while in the second race he finished in 56.43 seconds and took the 33rd place in the sum of two races.

The result of the fisherman in the points of the International Skiing Federation (FIS) was evaluated with 46.03 points.

The winner was the host Alexs Vinatser, who showed a result of one minute and 50.82 seconds in the sum of two runs, ahead of Zvejnieks by 4.71 seconds.

The silver went to the Swiss Marc Roche, 0.39 seconds behind the winner, while the third place was won by the Frenchman Steven Amies, who was 0.65 seconds behind the winner.

In total, 105 athletes started the competition. In the first race, 75 skiers reached the finish, and in the second – 44 mountain skiers.

It has already been reported that on Thursday Zvejnieks won the 35th place in the European Cup competition in slalom at another Italian track in Oberegen.

Meanwhile, in the stage of the women’s EC tour, Latvia’s representative Dženifera Gērmane did not finish the competition in the Austrian city of Valle Aurin on Friday, withdrawing in the first race.

The winner of the competition was American Paula Molzen, who completed both courses in one minute and 35.16 seconds.

She was 1.16 seconds ahead of Austrian Lisa Herhager and 1.23 seconds ahead of Swedish Moo Boostrem Misener.

Out of 89 participants, 47 did not finish.

As already announced, Zvejnieks, after a four-year break, started again last week in the highest level competition – the World Cup (WCC). The return was not successful, and the Latvian mountain skier did not reach the finish on the first run.

The next start for Zvejnieks PK is scheduled for December 22 in the night slalom on the Italian track in Madonna di Campiglio.
