The filming took place mainly in three castles of the Loire: Chaumont-sur-Loire, Chenonceau and Blois.

The castle of Chaumont-sur-Loire

Located in the Loir-et-Cher, a few kilometers south of Blois, the Château de Chaumont is a magnificent example of the Renaissance style. It was built in the 16th century by Anne de Montmorency, Constable of France and Duke of Montmorency, on the ruins of an old feudal castle.

The castle was built by Katherine Briçonnet, on the orders of King François Ier. It was then taken over by Diane de Poitiers, mistress of the King, then by Catherine de Médicis.
Chenonceau Castle is open to the public every day of the year and it is possible to take a guided tour of the castle and its gardens.

The castle of Blois

Located in the Loir-et-Cher, the Château de Blois is a magnificent example of the Renaissance style. It was built in the 16th century by King Francis I.
The castle of Blois served as the setting for several scenes in the series, in particular those where we see Arthur and his knights practicing archery in the inner courtyard.
