The Dream of Winning the World Cup Has Ended

Cristiano Ronaldo commented on Portugal’s elimination from the 2022 World Cup. CR7 said his dream brought him Selection of Quinas become world champion ends.

Portugal’s progress at the 2022 World Cup stopped in the quarterfinals phase. Fernando Santos’ squad was eliminated by Morocco 0-1 in the match which took place at Al Thumama Stadium, Saturday (10/12/2022) evening WIB.

Ronaldo came off the bench in the match Morocco vs Portugal. He came on in the second half to replace Ruben Neves, but failed to make a significant impact on his team.

Ronaldo is recorded as having played in five editions of the World Cup since 2006. His highest achievement was to lead his country to finish fourth in the 2006 World Cup.

Ronaldo expressed his sadness at failing to bring Portugal to win the World Cup. For him, the dream of kissing the highest trophy in world football is over.

“Winning the World Cup for Portugal is the biggest and most ambitious dream of my career. Luckily I won many international titles, including with Portugal, but putting our country’s name on the highest foot in the world is my biggest dream,” Ronaldo wrote on his Instagram account, Sunday (11/12) evening WIB.

“I fought for it. I fought hard for this dream. In the five appearances I made at the World Cup over 16 years, always alongside great players and supported by millions of Portuguese people, I gave everything. Giving everything on the pitch, I didn’t never turned my back on fighting and I never gave up on that dream,” he continued.

“Unfortunately, yesterday the dream ended. There is no point in reacting hotly. I just want everyone to know that a lot has been said, a lot has been written, a lot has been speculated, but my dedication to Portugal has not changed at all. I have always fought for everyone’s goal and I will never leave my comrades and my country.”

“There’s not much more to say for now. Thank you Portugal. Thank you Qatar. The dream is beautiful while it lasts… Now, I hope time will be a good adviser and let each one draw his own conclusions.” Cristiano Ronaldo.
