Suns confirm Booker will be out for 4 weeks with injury

PHOENIX (AP) — Phoenix Suns All-Star point guard Devin Booker will miss at least four weeks with a left groin strain.

The team confirmed Booker’s injury on Wednesday and said he will be re-evaluated after four weeks.

Booker, 26, has missed six of the last nine games with hamstring and groin strains. He made an attempt to return for the team’s Christmas game against the Denver Nuggets, but played only four minutes before leaving the game.

He returned to Phoenix for further testing as the team continued on a six-game road trip.

Now it looks like Booker will be out for at least a month. He is averaging a career-high 27.1 points per game and has reached 50 points a couple of times this season.

The Suns march with a 20-15 record and are in fifth position in the Western Conference. Several players have missed playing time due to injuries, while forward Jae Crowder hasn’t played all year as the Suns are seeking a trade for the disgruntled veteran.
