Second week of Basketball Activia UNILIG has been completed

The second week of Activia Unilig, organized by the TRNC Basketball Federation in cooperation with the Universities Sports Federation, was completed with the matches played.

While the league is an organization that stands out with its full stands, quality and competitive matches, as well as its visual beauties, the competition of universities in basketball adds a different excitement to the tournament.
While Activia Unilig is 2 weeks behind, Near East University (NEU) and Rauf Denktaş University (RDU) continue on their way without loss.

Bahçeşehir got its first win against METU: 82-51
Bahçeşehir Cyprus University (BAU), which successfully passed the qualifications and entered the league and lost to the last champion RDU in its first match, faced METU in its second match. Playing a very effective basketball in the first half of the match, the home team finished the first half 42-18 with the support of the fans who filled the Güzelyurt Sports Hall. Even though METU balanced the game and prevented the gap from being widened in the third period, BAU displayed an effective performance in the last period and defeated its opponent 82-51.
While Mohamed Sylla scored 18 points and Fuat Farisoğlu scored 17 points in BAU, Yoann Houndonougo finished the game with 11 points and 15 rebounds, Cornelius Udeinya 10 points and 11 rebounds and a double-double.
In METU, Fırat Ceylan played with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

NEU beat GAU and made 2 out of 2: 76-56
Near East University (NEU) and Girne American University (GAU) faced off at the RA-25 Sports Hall. Having completed the first match with a victory, NEU achieved a different score in the second match and achieved two victories.
While the home team had a 21-point lead in the first half of the game, they did not let this close in the second half and won the match 76-56.
In NEDU, Alp Kıvanç Rıza finished the game with 23 points and Günay Ertoğaloğlu with 21 points and became the names that bore the weight of the victory. Refet Karamustafaoğlu put forward a successful performance by collecting 8 rebounds as well as 15 points.
The most effective player of GAU was Halit Çeliktaşlılar, who finished the game with 17 points.

Last champion RDU won, albeit hard: 55-53
The most competitive match of the second week was played between RDU and Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU). While the struggle of my two finalist teams last year continued until the last moments, RDU managed to win the match 55-53 and passed its second match without loss.
While the first period ended with a 10-10 tie, EMU turned the score advantage in the second period, albeit slightly, and entered the locker room with a 28-25 lead.
RDU made a quick start to the second half, outperforming the third quarter, leading by 7 points in the final period. While the struggle of the two teams was worth watching in the last period, the winner of the match was RDU with a score of 55-53.
James Baker finished the game with 19 points and Gimell Mathews with 16 points in RDU, while Emmanuel Ilenekhan had 8 points and 13 rebounds.
EMU’s top scorer was Sari Elias AlJoulani, who collected 16 points as well as 10 rebounds.
