Boyfriend Cristiano Ronaldo, Georgina Rodriguezexpressed resentment towards the Portuguese coach Fernando Santos after CR7 returned to being a backup when defeated by Morocco in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup, Saturday (10/12).

Portugal lost 0-1 to Morocco in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup. A single goal from Youssef En Nesyri in the first half knocked Portugal out.

Ronaldo was back on the bench for Santos in this match. The 37-year-old striker only entered in the 51st minute to replace Ruben Neves. But Ronaldo could not help Portugal avoid defeat.

Georgina, who watched the Morocco vs Portugal match live with Ronaldo’s son, Cristiano Jr., said he was annoyed with Santos’ decision.

Georgina thinks Santos made a mistake by suggesting Portugal again. The Spanish woman said Georgina made a bad decision.

“Today your friend and coach [Santos] decide badly, friend you admire and respect. The same people, when you step on the pitch, see how everything changes. But now it’s too late,” wrote Georgina via Instagram.

“You can’t underestimate the best player in the world, the most powerful weapon. You can’t defend someone who doesn’t deserve it either. Life teaches us a lesson. Today we didn’t lose, we learned. Ronaldo, we admire you,” continued Georgina quoted from Brand.

Santos himself does not regret suggesting Ronaldo. The coach who led Portugal to win the 2016 European Cup said suggesting Ronaldo was the right decision.

“No, I don’t think so, no regrets. Cristiano is a great player, he came when we thought it was necessary, so no regrets,” said Santos after the game.
