RIONNY Mainaky responded to the participation of Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan in the 2022 PBSI National Championship. The 2022 PBSI National Championship (Kejurnas) is scheduled to be held from 12 to 17 December 2022.
In the event at Pelatnas PBSI, Cipayung, East Jakarta, there will be 21 Indonesian clubs participating in the mixed team adult category. However, Pelatnas players are not allowed to participate in this championship.
However, another interesting thing is that there are double names for sons of well-known veterans, namely Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan who will take part. They are listed in the list of names for the 2022 National Championship participants released by PBSI on its official website. Ahsan will strengthen the PB Djarum club, while Hendra is with PB Jaya Raya.
Regarding this, Rionny Mainaky as the Head of the Development and Achievement Division (Kabid Binpres) PBSI, admitted that he did not have a problem with it. This is because the veteran men’s doubles pair currently has the status of a professional player and sparring team for the Pelatnas PBSI men’s doubles team.
“Yes, they (Ahsan/Hendra) can. They are not national training athletes, they are sparring here,” said Rionny to the media crew, including MNC Portal Indonesia at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center.

Furthermore, Rionny explained that the national team players were indeed not allowed to participate in the 2022 National Championship. This was because they were focused on the 2023 tournament which would immediately start in the second week of January, namely the Malaysia Open Super 1000.
