The Menpora then greeted coach Shin Tae Yong and the Garuda Squad staff.

Menpora asked naturalized players who officially hold Indonesian citizenship status to help the Senior National Team to play well in the 2022 AFF Cup.

“Yes, the hope (for naturalized players) is to play well,” said Menpora Zainudin Amali.

Shin Tae Yong summoned 28 players for the 2022 AFF Cup projection, five of whom have naturalized status.

There are Elkan Baggot, Sandy Walsh, Jordy Amat, Marc Klok and Bali United striker IIija Spasojevic.

Elkan Baggot did not take part in the Senior National Team TC at the Bali United Training Center because he was still focused on his club, Gillingham FC.

Sandy Walsh and Jordy Amat were able to join the National Team TC after completing the naturalization process and changing citizenship to become Indonesian citizens (WNI).
