Regatas returns from tour with a win over San Lorenzo

Regatas Corrientes obtained an important victory last night within the framework of the tour it is carrying out through the center and south of the country. For a new date in the National Basketball League (LNB) they defeated San Lorenzo 89-79 at home. The scorer of the match was Rodney Green, author of 19 annotations (six rebounds, three assists). Charles Hinkle, another of the foreigners of the Corrientes club, scored 18 points.

Although Regatas had an adverse start, the outlook was not discouraging since it never suffered major disadvantages. In the second half, a good run by Potrillo Arengo and better defensive blocking gave him the victory.

San Lorenzo had had a very fine start with its five starters. Julián Aprea worked as a very good ally for Facundo Rutenberg to stand out with 13 points in the first half. Those from Parque Miter, for their part, did not get many shooting variations and added from the paint thanks to the tenacity of Rodney Green and Mogga Lado.

They went into the long break with a difference of three points by no means definitive.

The necessary shooting options appeared in the third quarter, with successful shots from Hinkle from the perimeter and a lightning streak from Juan Pablo Arengo from Corrientes, who scored 8 points in a couple of minutes to finalize the comeback.

Led by Federico Marín, San Lorenzo had a better performance than in their last games, but it was not enough to break the team’s defense, with Facundo Piñero taking all the defensive rebounds.

Regatas, led by Fernando “Tulo” Rivero, has played 12 games so far in the 2022-2023 LNB season with six wins and six losses.

Now the Corrientes team will have little rest, since they return to Corrientes to receive Platense on Friday, in a match that will pay tribute to the club’s historic idol, Paolo Quinteros.

For their part, those from Boedo will travel to face the last executioner of Regatas, Gimnasia y Esgrima de Comodoro Rivadavia.
