Real Madrid player Vinícius Júnior lashed out at the league leadership in Spain on Saturday after being the target of monkey noises in the away match against Real Valladolid. According to the attacker, La Liga does not tackle racism.
Vinícius, who had just been substituted, walked past the section with the fanatical fans on Friday evening when Karim Benzema made the decisive 0-2. Monkey noises were then made to the left winger, as can be heard on a video. The Brazilian also received all kinds of other curses at his head.
“Racists continue to visit the stadiums and take a closer look at the biggest club in the world,” Vinícius writes a day later Twitter. “And La Liga continues to do nothing… But I will carry on with my head held high and celebrate my victories and Madrid’s. In the end it’s MY fault.”
It is not the first time this year that Vinícius has been treated racist in the football stadiums. In the city derby against Atlético Madrid, hundreds of fans of the rival called him a monkey. Monkey sounds were also heard then.

Vinicius one of the best at Real
Vinicius is considered one of Real Madrid’s best players in recent years. The Brazilian made the switch from Flamengo to Madrid for 45 million euros in 2018 and has since scored 46 goals and 48 assists in 192 games for ‘De Koninklijke’.
In May, Vinícius scored the winning goal in the Champions League final against Liverpool, helping Real win the big-eared cup for the 14th time. At the last World Cup, he was also a basic player for Brazil, which was eliminated by Croatia in the quarter-finals via penalties. He scored once in Qatar.
La Liga has not yet responded to Vinicius’ accusations. Real Madrid will return to action on Tuesday. Then in the fourth round of the Spanish Cup fourth divisionist Cacereno is the opponent. The away match against Villarreal follows four days later.
