Puerto Rico will participate in the “Winter Meetings” of the Major Leagues for the Classic Baseball World Cup

The general manager of the Puerto Rico team, Joey Solá, and the third base coach Luis “Papa” Rivera will travel this Monday to San Diego to participate in the “Winter Meetings” of the Majors, with a view to the coming World Baseball Classic (WBC).

Both will participate in a meeting of managers and leaders with the media that will take place on Tuesday. Rivera will represent the pilot of the national ninth, Yadier Molina, who is in Venezuela as coach of the Navegantes del Magallanes team.

“We will have a meeting with the media and there will be a meeting with the leaders and general managers of all the teams in the World Baseball Classic. It is an activity to break the ice and continue the work towards the event”, Solá explained in written statements.

Los “Winter Meetings” They are an event that takes place the first days of December each year. The 30 Major League teams and their Minor League affiliates meet for four days to discuss league business and conduct off-season trades and transactions.

Attendees include league executives, team owners, general managers, team scouts, visitors from baseball-playing countries, trade show exhibitors and job seekers with minor league organizations.

Solá and Rivera will be back in Puerto Rico this Wednesday.
