Photo of Marilyn Monroe fetches record price

A photograph of Marilyn Monroe has sold for a record price at an auction in Texas. According to Dallas auction house Heritage, the recording fetched $300,000. It shows the US actress’ upper body with a strapless dress in a lying position. The recording is signed with the words “I love you, Joe, Marilyn”. It is dedicated to Joe DiMaggio, the New York Yankees baseball star whom Monroe married in 1954. However, the marriage only lasted a year. Monroe died in 1962. According to the auction house, the auctioned photo is said to be the only picture that Monore had made for DiMaggio.
