Paris 2024: first stone for the great Creps, in Châtenay-Malabry

602 days before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, construction sites are in turmoil everywhere in Île-de-France. New constructions but also modernizations of existing sites. Like the Île-de-France Sports Expertise and Performance Resource Center (Creps IDF) located in Châtenay-Malabry, in an 18-hectare estate acquired by the State in 1941.

A structure, which depends on both the Ile-de-France region and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which has become over time a real breeding ground for champions. Labeled a preparation center for the Games by the Cojo (organizing committee for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games), the equipment nevertheless needed modernization work, for an envelope of 42 million released by the regional council.

Two gymnasiums, a weight room and seven additional training rooms

The first stone was symbolically laid this Friday by the president (LR) of the region Valérie Pécresse and the president (LR) of the department of Hauts-de-Seine Georges Siffredi, while the site must be completed in 13 months. Until then, two new gymnasiums and a weights room will be built in order to improve the training conditions of the 240 Creps IDF athletes, distributed in the France and Espoirs poles.

The objective is also to receive new high-level centers and to welcome foreign delegations preparing for 2024. The project also plans to supplement the 17 current training rooms with seven additional ones, “in order to create the conditions for welcoming an appendix of partner schools and thus significantly improve the dual course of high-level athletes, “says the region.

A place, which will therefore be part of the essential network to train future athletes, while there are fifteen other Creps in France. Without forgetting, of course, the National Institute of Sport, Expertise and Performance (Insep) based in the Bois de Vincennes.
