Otto Addo makes a Martinez: he leaves his position as coach of Ghana eliminated from the 2022 World Cup

“It was clear that I would stop after the World Cup. My family and I see our future in Germany. I like my role in Dortmund. Even if we had been world champions, that would have been the end. That’s a decision for the family,” the 47-year-old technician said on Friday. Ghana started the third match as runners-up in Group H but finished fourth after losing 0-2 to Uruguay at Al Wakrah on Friday.

Arrived in the summer of 2019, Addo is under contract until June 2025 with Borussia Dortmund where he is in charge of hopes. With the permission of the German club, Addo became coach of the Ghana national team in February. He led the team to the final phase of the World Cup at the expense of Nigeria (0-0 and 1-1). Addo’s contract has been extended until the World Cup in Qatar. The plan has always been for the Hamburg native to return to BVB.
