Orlando Arcia: “I will be with Leones until the end”

Orlando Arcia, big league Atlanta Braves, joined the Leones del Caracas a week ago to confirm his return to the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League and his debut with a new uniform.

The infielder from Anaco, Anzoátegui state, since he arrived has been productive for the long-haired ninth, hitting his first home run at the Forum La Guaira in 2022-2023 and the fifth of his career in Venezuelan baseball.

“I have felt good with the Lions, we came here to contribute a grain of sand and thank God we are doing it to continue adding victories (…) I worked hard to be here, when I have men in scoring position I will always do my best to bring the runs to the plate” said the shortstop.

Arcia in 2022 played 68 games with the Atlanta Braves, consuming 209 at-bats with 51 hits, nine doubles, nine home runs, 30 RBIs, 25 runs scored and a .244 average. During the interview, he stressed that his organization did not ask him to work on anything specific “they just told me to come and play quietly with a conscience, I will be with the Lions as long as the team goes.”

The 28-year-old slugger arrived in Caracas with his brother Oswaldo Arcia in March this year from the Caribes de Anzoátegui, in a trade that brought Loiger Padrón, José Torres, Luis Amaya and Jesús Rodríguez to Puerto La Cruz, “I am I am very happy to be here in a new team with him again and we will continue to do our best to win the championship (…) We always give each other advice to improve things and we remain very close”.
