Neymar to Tite: “I thought you were heavy, but…”

Brazil was resoundingly eliminated in the quarterfinals. The penalties against Croatia sentenced a five-time champion who had been sweeping, but that he could not show that favoritism in the 120 minutes of play. After the penalty that Marquinhos crashed into the post, all the Brazilian players were emotionally devastatedbut one even more than the rest: Neymar.

The PSG player spent one of his last bullets to get the long-awaited World Cup, and will probably face the World Cup 2026 being a very veteran player and with his full years already past. Now is the time to reflect and close the page, and in that processNeymar wanted to thank the former Brazilian coach for his services.

In an open letter published on his Instagram account, on the 10th of Canarinha he affectionately addressed Tite, showing their affection and the process of a relationship that goes back years. During his stay in the Brazilian National Team, DT made Neymar his star player, and created a system to favor the attacker.

“Fate is fun, isn’t it?”

In the open letter, Neymar spoke a bit about the parallel trajectory of his career and that of Tite until he found himself in the national team: “Before we met in person, we played against each other many times and can I tell you? I thought you were so annoying! Because you put together a team to mark me, you did everything to beat me and You even spoke ill of me. But fate is fun, isn’t it? He put you as my coach and me as your number 10″.

After this, the PSG player also spoke of Tite as a personan aspect in which he also praised his former coach and where he was close: “I met you as a coach and I already knew that you were very good but as a person you are MUCH BETTER! I come here openly to thank you for everything, all the teachings you gave us… and there were so many. You will always be one of the best coaches I have ever had or will ever have, I will always support you. We had beautiful moments but we also had moments that hurt us a lot and this last one will hurt us for a long time.”

Neymar wanted to close the letter with a phrase from Tite addressed to Neymar himself at some point in their careers and an emotional message: “God gave us EVERYTHING! Thank you Professor Tite, for all the learning…and yes there is a phrase that I will never forget is “MENTALLY STRONG” and we will have to be MUCH right now”.

“I’m not used to losing”

In another previous Instagram post, Neymar wanted to reflect on the defeat against Croatia, using a phrase that shows how complicated it is to assimilate a blow like this for a star accustomed to success and who always demands the maximum: “Defeat still hurts a lot, we were so close, so close…”.

Neymar in the text of that post spoke of this exceptional situation of elite players, in which he also recognizes that this type of blows turned into defeats generates great pain in him: “Unfortunately or fortunately I still haven’t learned to lose. Defeats make me stronger but they hurt too much and I still haven’t gotten used to it”.
