The game in Portland between the local Trailblazers and the Nuggets from Denver came to a head. With the score of 118:117 for the guests, there were still 18.5 seconds to play. It was no secret who took the throw from the home side, of course the ball landed in the hands of Damian Lillard. And the point guard did what he has done so many times in his career: he hit a wild threesome in crunch time to take the lead.

Of course, he then pointed his finger at his arm as usual to indicate, “It’s checker time again!” But that night, Lillard didn’t become the match winner because Jamal Murray objected. The 25-year-old hit a wild three-pointer 0.9 seconds before the end and ensured the Nuggets’ 121:120 away win.

“I turned around and looked at the clock, saw that I didn’t have to hurry and just made my move,” the match winner described the last action soberly. With 21 points, Murray was the second best scorer in his team, Nikola Jokic scored 33 points and was once again the best shooter in his colors. The top scorer of the game was Lillard, whose 40 points ultimately failed to prevent defeat.

Spurs end losing streak

Otherwise there were two home wins in the NBA. The Heat beat the Clippers 115-110. Miami was able to rely on a strong Bam Adebayo (31 points, 10 rebounds) and now has a record of 12 wins and 14 losses. The San Antonio Spurs were also victorious against the Houston Rockets (118:109). Keldon Johnson set the tone for the Texans, who had previously lost 11 games in a row, and ended up with 32 points.
