NBA: Dennis Schröder plays strong and concedes tough pack

Disappointing evening despite a convincing performance for Dennis Schröder. With the injury-plagued LA Lakers, the German basketball star clearly lost to the Phoenix Suns despite scoring 30 points.

Despite Dennis Schröder’s best performance of the season so far, the Los Angeles Lakers had nothing to gain in the professional basketball league NBA. The Phoenix Suns scored 104:130 for the decimated team, national team captain Schröder scored 30 points in 29 minutes as the top scorer of the evening.

LA were missing star players LeBron James (ankle problems), Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook (both foot problems) injured. Davis is expected to be out for weeks. The best player in the Suns, who had to do without all-star Devin Booker, was veteran Chris Paul (28 points).

NBA: series of the Wagner brothers torn

“Everyone just has to do their job, and whenever AD is back, he will do his job,” Schroeder said of Davis. For him, the personnel situation “does not change anything personally at the end of the day. I work and I think everyone should just look in the mirror and do their job.”

Schröder was in the starting lineup for the Lakers and clearly surpassed his previous record this season. At the end of November, the point guard had 21 points against San Antonio. The Californians are 12th in the NBA’s Western Conference with just 13 wins and 17 losses.
