Unión achieved one of the most important victories so far in the 2022/23 season of the National Basketball League this Saturday at noon. Emulating the great victory against Quimsa at the Ángel Malvino, he ended the streak of 10 consecutive victories for Obras Sanitarias.
Juan Francisco Ponce’s men prevailed 86-77 with a display of important play and a great collective contribution. The outstanding ones were Pedro Bombino and Gastón Bertona.
The Cuban center and the point guard born in San Guillermo were key to Tatengue’s comeback in the last quarter. The “Tachero” had managed to impose his game in the first half and came to take a 13-point advantage, which allowed him to lead the score until the end of the third period when Jeantal Cylla turned it around on the buzzer.
A greater efficiency in the rojiblanco perimeter, a lesser contribution from Barral and Valussi in Obras and the run of 11 points towards the end by Bombino were decisive for the final set from 27 to 18 for the locals.
With this victory, Unión reached a record of 4 wins and 11 losses, placing it 17th in the standings. Obras is with a 12-4 record and lost the chance to climb to the top with Gimnasia de Comodoro Rivadavia.
The closing of the 2022 calendar for the rojiblanco will be this Monday at 9:30 p.m. at the Ángel Malvicino against Regatas Corrientes. Then the holiday break will come and the activity of the LNB will resume in January.
