MVV causes hilarity after a pointless 500 km drive to Telstar: ‘This is what people come to the highway for’ | Dutch football

It all started on the Twitter account with an invitation to skaters Erben Wennemars, Kjeld Nuis and Suzanne Schulting to strengthen the team on the “slippery field” at Telstar (in Velsen-Zuid). The match was eventually cancelled, after a futile bus journey of 3 hours from Maastricht.

The person responsible for the social media account wrote on Twitter: “Because I was hired to report on something tonight, you can follow our return journey to Maastricht from minute to minute.”

And that happened: via a “quiet opening phase” on the A9, a “SHIT-TO-RUN-THE passing movement by the bus driver” (“This is what people come to the highway for”) and a “fair duel” in the back the bus about who was allowed to operate the aux cable. Another 8 minutes of playing time was added due to a short traffic jam. And ‘the game stopped for a while’ because Orhan Dzepar hadn’t finished his McKroket yet.
