Mourning for soccer: King Pelé “hung up his tennis shoes”

Corregidora Stadium, Querétaro; minute 63, 0-1 in favor of Atlas; a fight between bars forces to suspend the game; local fans beat up athletic fans; the unofficial figure is 17 murdered.

But don’t worry, Liga BBVA has promised to reschedule the game!

*Clarification: Here you will not find the bloody and morbid images of the infamous, inadmissible and unfortunate violence, only of the beginning of the brawl on the pitch; Let’s help not viralize and normalize violence.

A fight between fans of the Querétaro and Atlas clubs led to women and children in the stadium to invade the field during the second half of the game.

The game was suspended, but fans of the local team escalated the attacks.

With their fists, sticks, chairs, Querétaro fans beat up those who wore the Atlas shirt, several of them lying naked… reports on social networks indicate that several of them had their lives taken from them.

The security forces are barely seen in some of the videos, but without participating to avoid the attacks.

Unofficially, journalist David Medrano, who was covering the meeting, reports that at least 17 people were killed.

The executive president of the BBVA Soccer League, Mikel Arriola, classified the act as an “inadmissible and regrettable” act.

To which several fans responded that what is inadmissible is that violence can grow in a stadium and security cannot be guaranteed.

Here is the statement from the Liga BBVA, they point out that the league will thoroughly investigate the origin of the attacks; The statement does not speak of deaths, but of “injured people.”

But that the game will be rescheduled… don’t worry.

Moments before the game, the Queretaro state police account published on Twitter that the meeting took place calmly and safely… messages that have a bad age.

At the time, the state governor, Mauricio Kuri, also issued a message via Twitter. He condemned the events and notified that he will have a meeting with those responsible for security.

And he informs that he will suspend his agenda to follow up on the facts.

The mayor of Querétaro, Luis Nava, joined the condemnation.
