After a goalless match (0-0), the Atlas Lions qualified for the quarter-finals on penalties. A first for the Cherifian kingdom.

It’s the feeling of the round of 16. In a very closed match, the Moroccan selection held Spain in check before qualifying on penalties during this 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Walid Regragui’s men thus mark history by qualifying Morocco for the first time in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

This is the second penalty shootout after that between Japan and Croatia on Monday, which turned in favor of the Croats, vice-world champions (1-1, 3 tab to 1). The Atlas Lions will find the winner of tonight’s match, Portugal-Switzerland, in the quarter-finals.
