Andrea Cardinale, the young man of Palermo origin arrested for the murder of Nino Calabrò and Francesca Di Dio, which took place in Thornaby-on-Tees, in the county of Yorkshire (near Middlesbrough), in England he allegedly lived in Lombardy before moving to the United Kingdom United.
According to reports from the British police, the 21-year-old boy, who had worked as a croupier, suffered from mental problems: he is currently in custody (arrested on 21 December last) and should be heard by the Teeside court judge in the next few hours .
A past in Bresciano
In recent days, unpublished connections with the province of Brescia have emerged about him. As reconstructed from BresciatodayIndeed, Andrea Cardinale would have lived for some time in Zanano, a hamlet of Sarezzo, together with his parents and sister (although few people in the village remember him). He would also have graduated from the Applied Sciences high school of the Carlo Beretta institute in Gardone Valtrompia and would have finally worn the Rugby Lumezzane jacket, in the team’s youth team. The victims of the brutal murder For reasons under investigation, Andrea Cardinale would have killed the two boyfriends using a baseball bat. The victims – Nino Calabrò, 26, and his girlfriend Francesca Di Dio, 20 – were found dead in their apartment. The protagonists of the macabre story are all Sicilians: Calabrò was originally from Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, the family lives in Milazzo; he had moved to England for work.
The girl is instead from Montagnareale, after studying at an art institute she had enrolled in a course as a beautician: she had gone to visit her boyfriend across the Channel for the holidays. Andrea Cardinale in the past would have been a roommate of Calabrò, and like the latter he would have been a croupier.
