Marina del Pilar awards scholarships to Tijuana athletes and coaches

TIJUANA.- The Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda, gave recognition to the athletes and coaches who achieved relevant victories in the CONADE 2022 Nationals, as well as in international events in the second semester of the year. Said recognitions were accompanied by sports stimuli at the Tijuana High Performance Center.

In total, 705 athletes and coaches were favored for a total amount of four million 434 thousand pesos, varying the individual amount, depending on the value of the medal obtained and the event in which it was obtained.

Present at the ceremony were the general director of the Institute of Sport and Physical Culture of Baja California (INDE BC), Lourdes Cañez Martínez, as well as the archery medalist athlete at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Luis “Abuelo” Álvarez. . In the symbolic delivery, it was the fencer Natalia Botello who received in the hands of the Governor the recognition of her encouragement for her national and international achievements.

You have had the accompaniment of your parents who with a lot of sacrifice take you, bring you, encourage you, give you the tools so that you can develop your sports skills together with your coaches and later carry the name of Baja California proudly on your chest. ”, stressed Marina del Pilar.

In the ceremony held in the “Plaza de las Banderas” the sports that saw their athletes benefit were taekwondo, indoor and beach volleyball, canoeing, racquetball, diving, sports shooting, judo, associated wrestling, fencing, athletics, cycling and badminton.

“We know that the effort is a lot and the investment is large enough for them to achieve their sports goals, that is why we have increased economic participation thanks to the support of Governor Marina del Pilar, seeking with this, to motivate the new generations not to Give up on your dreams and continue working hard to achieve what you are achieving,” declared Cañez Martínez.

The sports incentives are delivered by the Government of Baja California twice a year and, soon, the deliveries will take place in the municipalities of Mexicali and Ensenada.
