The champion responded. Navegantes del Magallanes defeated Tiburones de La Guaira 5-2 on Tuesday in Valencia to close the regular round on the right foot and celebrate the classification he obtained earlier.

The electricians sealed the pass to January as fourth in the standings, after the Margarita Braves lost the first of a doubleheader in Barquisimeto. Even so, the Turks had the mission to win and they fulfilled it.

Magallanes finished with a 29-27 record and was only a half game behind the sharks.

Erick Leal received a home run from Kelvin Melean in the first inning, but turned the tide and ended up pitching 5.0 good innings, allowing three hits and that one run.

Meanwhile Magallanes tied in the second episode with a hit by Engelb Vielma and the following inning he went up 2-1 with a double by Renato Núñez. In the fifth episode the Turks added one more after a hit by Mikel Serrano.

Tiburones took advantage of Leal’s departure and discounted with one in the sixth. But from then on he never set foot on the register again.

The Valencians, on the other hand, gave a final blow with two runs in the bottom of the sixth product of a double by Alberth Martínez.

Erick Leal was left with the victory to leave a 7-2 record and improve his ERA to 3.70. Alexandro Tovalin scored the save by hanging the last two outs of the game.

Salty starter Christian Mejias took the setback by receiving two runs in two and two-thirds innings of work.
