Lydia Ko returns to the top, Céline Boutier 12th!

A week after his success at the CME Groupe Tour ChampionshipLydia Ko has reclaimed her place at the top of the world hierarchy. Céline Boutier is still progressing and climbs to twelfth place.

No player from the world’s top 10 was present in Malaga for the final of the Ladies European Tour (LET) last week, and yet this ranking has moved. And not anecdotally.

In fact, there was a transfer of power between Nelly Korda et Lydia Ko. A week after his victory in the final of the LPGAthe New Zealander has thus regained the world summit.

A place that the young lady of the time had left more than five years ago, in July 2017.

She had then kept the throne for 85 consecutive weeks, the third longest reign behind Lorraine Ochoa (158 weeks) and Yani Tseng (109 weeks).

The New Zealander establishes here the longest interval between two accessions to the throne.

« I’m very grateful to be number one in the world againshe explained. To be honest, I wasn’t sure I would ever come back here. This would not have been possible without my family and my team. »

From 59th to first

Since her last takeover, the Seoul native had fallen to 59th in the world.

But with great tenacity, Is returned in particular after this exceptional year 2022 marked by three successes, its first season with multiple victories since 2016.

She also obtained eleven other top 10s, including nine top 5s. A distinction that never comes alone, the double winner in Major seized the Vare Trophy rewarding the lowest score average with its 68.99.

This is only the second time a player has fallen below 69 after Annika Sorenstam in 2002 (68.70).

Céline Boutier always more in the history of French golf

Like many of the best players in the world, Celine Boutier is on vacation and did not play last week.

Despite this, and through the play of the “divider”, it progressed from one place to World Women Rolex Ranking. The Habs went from thirteenth to twelfth place in the world at the expense of the American Jennifer Kupcho.

The Ile-de-France resident in Dallas (Texas) sets a new unprecedented “record” for a Frenchwoman with her position close to the top 10 in the world. Note that among men, none has ever reached such a ranking (Editor’s note, Victor Dubuisson, 15th on February 1, 2015).
