Lova Mahaisoa wins 6 places – Newsmada

The first participation of the Malagasy judoka, Lova Mahaisoa Randrianasolo (-73kg men) in the international tournament in the senior category, ended in an entry defeat at the last Grand Slam in Tokyo.

However, his presence on the Japanese tatami earned him three important points to improve his world ranking. The reigning champion of Madagascar gained 6 places, thanks to the points collected in the Japanese capital. From 173rd position before entering the Grand Slam in Tokyo, Lova Mahaisoa Randrianasolo rose to 167th in the world. He gleaned his first three international points among seniors during the 2020 African championship. But it was not until the 2022 edition of this continental game to see him garner his best marks. His qualification for the round of 16 earned him 112 points.

Note that despite his rise in the world ranking, he is not the highest ranked Malagasy judoka. The prize goes to Durianah Ramiandrisoa (+78kg women), who is ranked 68th in the world in her category. Among men, Sergio Karamaly (-90kg) has the best ranking (124th place).
