Lotois badminton in good shape

Friday, December 9, the departmental committee of badminton 46 met in general assembly in the premises of the OIS in Figeac. The heads of seven associations, including the local club, out of the nine in the Department, took part in this annual meeting, in the presence, by videoconference, of representatives of the Ligue Occitanie de Badminton.

In his moral report, Didier Chaubet, president of Codep 46, spoke of a 2021-2022 season carried out under more or less normal conditions, after the last two years disrupted by the Covid. Returning to the numbers of last season at 616 licensees, he recalled the aim of the Codep, to promote the practice of badminton in the department: “With nine clubs affiliated to the French Federation, the Lot today has 655 licensees (60% men 40% women), 54% young people and 46% adults. These figures confirm a new trend of progression. I hope that we will end the season with 700 players”.

In terms of staff, Pradines remains the flagship club with 158 licensees, Figeac currently being at 93, a figure which should also change. If the Lot has lost two clubs in southern Quercy (Saint-Cyprien, Saubad), some fairly advanced prospects are hoped for, in particular in Castelnau-Montratier, Cajarc under discussion, and Martel.

For their part, sports activities have almost resumed their pre-Covid rhythm almost normally, with the organization of the departmental trophy (TDJ) and youth championships, chick trays, Mini-Bad, interregional trophy, partnerships with the school environment, device Pass Bad, etc. Also mentioned are training and internships (in connection with the Ligue Occitanie “Clinic”, arbitration), bad 46 circuits (promotion tournaments), departmental interclubs, Lot championships, and other official club tournaments.

At the end of the meeting, the representatives of the Regional League salute the good health of badminton in the Lot and the good work of the management teams.
