The teams from Argentina and Croatia met five times, two of them officially. Both representatives won twice, while the remaining commitment ended tied.
The history between the two began in 1994, with a 0-0 tie that had Diego Maradona as the protagonist, in the preview of that year’s World Cup. Four years later they met at the World Cup in France, when the team at the time led by Daniel Passarella won 1-0, with a goal from Mauricio Pineda.
In 2006, they already wore Argentine colors with Lionel Messi, Croatia won a friendly 3-2 in Zagreb, while in 2014 the albiceleste team took revenge with a 2-1 victory in London, with goals from their current captain and from Christian Ansaldi.
The last duel between the Argentines and the Croatians took place in the group stage of Russia 2018, when the Europeans thrashed 3-0.
