La Jornada – Zócalo Christmas Verbena will offer 51 artistic activities

Mexico City. The Head of Government, Claudia Sheinbaum, inaugurated the Christmas festival that until December 30 will offer 51 artistic activities, a Christmas Eve sale, a fair with mechanical and skill games, a snowy forest and a giant matatena, among other attractions.

“We are in the Zócalo of Mexico City. We invite you, from today the fair is open: Wheel of Fortune, Little Horses, El Martillo. Come to the Zocalo. And, in addition, a bookstore of the Economic Culture Fund. Here we are accompanied by Paco (Ignacio Taibo II) and Paloma (Saiz).

“There are choirs, throughout this period there will be pastorelas, there is a fair, also games of skill. They can come to see the lighting, the giant piñata, the Christmas trees with poinsettia,” said the capital’s president during the tour.

The president visited the different spaces and began with the 12 mechanical games that receive visitors free of charge, among which the 28-meter-high Wheel of Fortune stands out, a carousel, the hammer, a mini tower and other attractions such as El Gusano, Pegasus and La Manzana, designed for all ages from 3 years old.

On the esplanade of the Plaza de la Constitución, the public will be able to find a tent selling poinsettia flowers at producer prices and 10 cabins that house various skill games such as target shooting, marbles and bowling, in addition to the lottery and a basketball hoop and a mini soccer goal for children and adults to enjoy with their family and loved ones.

A snowy forest accompanied by an illuminated triple arch and adorned with a giant piñata in front of Madero street welcomes visitors, who will find a rest area to enjoy their visit, as well as a tree of life that also invites the public to take pictures during their journey.

At the entrance to Avenida 20 de Noviembre, there are three giant Christmas trees, 7, 8 and 12 meters high, made with Christmas Eve flowers, surrounded by a giant matatena that lights up at night.

The festival will close on Friday, December 30 at 7:00 p.m. with the special screening of Pinocchio, the most recent film production by Mexican director Guillermo del Toro.
