On Saturday, Kuruc went to the field in the Spanish Premier League (ACB) game for Sevilla “Real Betis”, but on Sunday the club announced that both sides agreed to end cooperation. “Strasbourg” has signed a contract with the 24-year-old Český player until the end of the season.
In the French championship, with five wins in 13 matches, the Strasbourg players are in 13th place in the competition of 18 teams, but in the FIBA Champions League, a 4-1 record will allow them to participate in the second stage of the tournament. In 11 games as part of the Sevilla team this season, Kuruc averaged 4.8 points in 16 minutes, as well as 3.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.8 steals. Kurucs joined the team at the end of the summer, signing a contract with the club for one season.
Last season, Kuruc played for Partizan Belgrade, but he played for the last time in March and terminated his contract with the team at the beginning of June. In July, the basketball player started in the Summer League of the National Basketball Association (NBA), where he played for the Toronto Raptors.
From 2012 to 2015, Kurucs was in the “VEF Riga” system, but then spent three years under the auspices of the Spanish club “Barcelona”, also playing in the club’s second team in the lower leagues. In 2018, the basketball player became the winner of the Spanish Cup in the Barcelona team.
In the summer of 2018, the Latvian representative was selected by the Brooklyn Nets with the 40th pick in the NBA draft. After two seasons with the Brooklyn team, Kuruc was traded to the Houston Rockets in January 2021 and to the Milwaukee Bucks in March, from which Kuruc was released in the first half of May.
In a total of 131 games in the world’s strongest league, Kurucs played an average of 16 minutes per match, during which he scored six points and grabbed 3.1 rebounds.
